Dr. Abid Hussain is part of the Family Medicine Residency inaugural class at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC).

Dr. Hussain grew up in the historic city of Lahore, Pakistan and attended Nishtar Medical College for his medical degree.  After graduation, he worked as a primary care physician for a few years. He enjoyed interacting and learning from his patients of all ages and appreciates the diversity and the holistic nature of primary care practice which became his inspiration to pursue his career in Family Medicine.

Before joining Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center, Dr. Hussain was part of the research team at the University of Louisville with a research focus on the role of islet cell transplantation in the effective management of chronic pancreatitis and type 1 diabetes.

Travelling is his favorite hobby. It is always exciting for him to explore new places and making new friends and learning about different cultures. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, watching sci-fi movies, and going out for the sunset walks.   Dr Hussain wants you to know, “I am looking forward to being a part of Alamogordo’s community and making a positive difference in my patients’ lives.”
