Arlene Brown, MD

Dr. Arlene Brown is a member of Family Medicine Residency faculty at Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC).
Dr. Brown brings to GCRMC over 35 years of knowledge, leadership, and research in medicine. Her prior positions include Staff Physician at Lincoln Count Medical Center, Practitioner and Owner at Family Practice Associates of Ruidoso, Faculty at Southern New Mexico Family Medicine Residency and Practitioner and Owner at Lincoln Country Family Medical Group.
Dr. Brown has served on the AAMC OSR Administrative Board, Medical Executive Committee for the Lincoln County Medical Center, Board of Directors for the American Academy of Family Physicians, Board of Directors of New Mexico Health Resources and was on the New Mexico Legislature Medicaid Reform Committee. Having a passion for leadership, she served on the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM), Board of Directors from 2007 – 2012. In the course of that time she was appointed as the Treasurer (2011-2012), a member of the Executive Committee (2011-2012) and Chair of the Credentials Committee (2007-2012).
Dr. Brown’s achievements resulted in a number of honors and awards throughout her career. Just to name a few: 1994 and 2015 New Mexico Academy of Family Physicians, Family Doctor of the Year recipient, received the 2003 New Mexico Academy of Family Physicians Chapter Service Award and the 2003 University of New Mexico School of Medicine Outstanding Teacher Award.
A New Mexico native and distinguished musician, Dr. Brown is passionate about education, the arts and being a vital part of her community. She has served this mission well as she was a founding member, President, on the Board of Directors for the Family Crisis Center of South Central New Mexico, Inc. Their mission was to provide shelter, counseling legal aid, etc. for victims of domestic violence. It is this commitment and dedication that makes her an incredible asset to our organization.
