Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center Foundation was founded September 3, 1985. The mission of the foundation at that time was to support members of the community seeking healthcare careers. Physicians, midwives and nurses have been the recipients of GCRMC Foundation scholarships.
During challenging times the foundation has been a resource to support the needs of the hospital and NMSU-A. Each year the foundation continues to support students through their college careers as well as adding new students.
For the 2021 school year, the foundation will be disbursing $49,000 in local healthcare scholarships. 24 students are receiving support and 19 of the 24 students are new recipients.
The uncertainties of healthcare has prompted the foundation to take a greater role in supporting the continued growth of the hospital. All hospitals are facing challenging futures with the desire to bring the best healthcare to their community while seeing a decrease in reimbursement for quality patient care.
The GCRMC Foundation stands with our hospital to continue providing exceptional healthcare close to home. We support caring for our families and friends in our community.
