Abid Hussain, MD

Dr. Abid Hussain is part of the Family Medicine Residency inaugural class at CHRISTUS Health.

Dr. Hussain grew up in the historic city of Lahore, Pakistan and attended Nishtar Medical College for his medical degree.  After graduation, he worked as a primary care physician for a few years. He enjoyed interacting and learning from his patients of all ages and appreciates the diversity and holistic nature of primary care practice, which inspired him to pursue his career in Family Medicine.

Before joining CHRISTUS Health, Dr. Hussain was part of the research team at the University of Louisville with a research focus on the role of islet cell transplantation in the effective management of chronic pancreatitis and type 1 diabetes.

Traveling is his favorite hobby. It is always exciting for him to explore new places and making new friends and learning about different cultures. In his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, watching sci-fi movies, and going out for sunset walks.  Dr. Hussain wants you to know “I am looking forward to being a part of Alamogordo’s community and making a positive difference in my patients’ lives.”

Alexander Topete, DO

Dr. Alexander Topete is a PGY-2 Family Medicine Resident in the inaugural class at CHRISTUS Health.

Dr. Topete has brought to CHRISTUS Health and the healthcare industry over 8 years of health and fitness knowledge, entrepreneurship and leadership. His prior positions include proprietor of ABL Logistics in Dyer, Indiana and nutritional/fitness trainer in the Chicagoland area. In addition, Dr. Topete is currently developing a line of supplements in preventive medicine.

Having received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine in Las Cruces, New Mexico, Dr. Topete completed his undergraduate education at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, and Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana.

A business owner, mentor, and leader, Dr. Topete is passionate about educating patients while integrating a holistic approach of body, mind, and spirit.

Bibodh Karki, MD
Alumni, Family Medicine

Dr. Bibodh Karki was born and raised in Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. He attended Universal College of Medical Sciences for medical school which is 20 miles away from the birthplace of Lord Buddha. His interest in family medicine intensified during the third year of his clinical rotations. Dr. Karki enjoyed taking care of people of all age groups and backgrounds. The most rewarding part was the relationships he formed with the patients and their families. Dr. Karki was employed at a government hospital for two years as a general physician after he graduated from medical school.

Recently, Dr. Karki was working as a Clinical Research Coordinator in the division of Infectious Diseases. In the past he has worked on the PCV-13 pneumonia vaccine. Currently, he is working on more than ten research studies including Janssen vaccine for COVID-19 and pursuing his Master’s in Public Health at the University of Louisville.

In his free time, Dr. Karki likes to travel, spend time with family, and play soccer. During the time of COVID, he developed a new hobby: biking. He likes to bike along the trails that go around the falls of Ohio, connecting Kentucky and Indiana.

“Medicine is an ever-learning process, and I have always been motivated to learn more. I am eager to have a career in which I can solve problems. I welcome any challenge that arises and will meet it with a consistent effort until a resolution is reached. I am very excited to work with people and community in Alamogordo.”

Lincoln Hiatt, MD
Alumni, Family Medicine

Dr. Lincoln Hiatt is a PGY-2 Family Medicine Resident at CHRISTUS Health.

Dr. Hiatt is from Snowflake, Arizona. He studied archaeology at Arizona State University before being accepted to medical school in Guadalajara, Mexico at the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Hiatt volunteered at a non-profit clinic in Missouri as an Assistant Physician, providing uninsured community members with healthcare.

In his spare time, Dr. Hiatt loves being active with his wife and their seven, “Yes 7!” children. They love playing outside, exploring, camping, mountain biking, etc. He also loves carving wooden kitchen utensils.

Dr. Hiatt is especially grateful to Alamogordo and for the opportunity to continue his training and serve the people who live here.

Minh Quach, MD
Alumni, Family Medicine

Dr. Minh Quach was born and raised in Statesville, NC. He studied biology with a chemistry minor at Appalachian State University before being accepted into the American University of Antigua College of Medicine. Dr. Quach is the first generation in his family to become a physician as his parents immigrated from Vietnam following the end of the Vietnam War.

Recently, Dr. Quach volunteered at a family medicine clinic in Texas and was seeing patients of all age groups. In his spare time, Dr. Quach joined a volunteering group to help feed the homeless in downtown Fort Worth and Dallas and provide them with hygiene products.

Dr. Quach hobbies include cooking, traveling, football, and trying new coffee places.

Dr. Quach is excited and grateful to be here in New Mexico and looks forward to working with a diverse group and serving this community.
