Why Apply

Our Program is ACGME accredited and Residency is fulfilling and fun, and you will no doubt have great memories from this period of your training. Challenges and obstacles are often difficult to navigate without help – we strive to create an environment of inclusivity and understanding. When administrative or professional challenges arise, we will be available to help you figure it out. We set high expectations for program leadership to be both supportive and responsive.

Our goal is not only to provide a rich educational environment that provides our trainees with a variety of options to enhance their core training, but also to prepare some graduates for future leadership roles in clinical medicine, education and research.

How to Apply

The program currently has 3 residents per year (PGY-1, PGY-2 and PGY-3) for a full complement of 9.  We are accepting applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS). The selection process will begin upon receiving complete applications. It is at the discretion of the Resident Selection Committee to grant interview for applicants.

Application Requirements

A completed ERAS application is required. Our program is listed as MMC – Alamogordo.

  1. Official Graduate and Medical School Transcripts.  We prefer graduation dates to be within 6 years.
  2. All official test transcripts for all applicable examinations. (USMLE, COMLEX, NBOME, FMGEMS, Flex of NBME)  We do not have a minimum score cutoff.  We prefer passing on 1st attempts.
  3. Dean’s Letter
  4. Curriculum Vitae
  5. Personal Statement
  6. Valid ECFMG certification (If you are a graduate of a medical school outside of the United States or Canada).  Certification must be received before the NRMP rank list deadline to submit to be considered for the program
  7. Three letters of recommendation (One from a Family Medicine Rotation)

*Since this is a Rural 1 +2 Track program, please make sure you apply to MMC – Las Cruces as well.

Successful clearance of fingerprinted background check and drug screening is required.

Visa and Sponsor Information

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States in order to be employed by our organization.  If you require employer sponsorship for a visa status, you are required to communicate this during the interview process.  Our organization sponsors J-1 Visas only.
