Dr. Cynthia Okpala is a PGY-2 Family Medicine Resident at CHRISTUS Southern New Mexico Family Medicine. She was born and raised in Anambra State, Nigeria. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in Physiology from Igbinedion University, Nigeria and her medical diploma from All Saints University School of Medicine, St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Before medical school, Dr. Okpala volunteered at a rural community hospital where she experienced the difficulties faced by medically underserved communities. This experience set her interest in providing full spectrum care for patients while constantly paying attention to their social needs.
In her leisure time, Dr. Okpala enjoys nature by hiking, walking or running. She also loves traveling, experiencing new cultures, and meeting people.
Dr. Okpala is excited to train and serve the people of Alamogordo, New Mexico.
