Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center (GCRMC) is a 99-bed Acute Care Facility located at the base of the Sacramento Mountains in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Located in Otero County, Gerald Champion has been associated with healthcare for almost 60 years. The current facility, with its award winning design opened in December 1999 resulting in continued growth over the past six years and subsequent expansions including a new Intensive Care Unit, additional Medical Office Building, and a free standing Day Care Center. In addition, a new Medical Office Building and a free standing Surgery Center opened on the Medical Center Campus in early 2007.
The Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center primary market is the city of Alamogordo with secondary markets expanding to Tularosa, Holloman Air Force Base and Lincoln County. The Medical Center shares a unique relationship with Holloman Air Force Base as the only hospital in the United States where active duty military personnel practice in a civilian hospital. This special arrangement allows one facility to meet the combined community and military needs, while also serving as a model for the Department of Defense in conserving resources. | |
